Sales Development Representative

Location: Birmingham Office / Hybrid
Type: Permanent – Full Time
Salary: £24,000–£26,000 per annum base plus commission and performance bonuses (OTE £38k-£45k)

The Role

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) at TNEH, you’ll be the first point of contact for organisations exploring smarter energy solutions or strategic energy procurement.
Your mission is twofold:
Generate new business by proactively engaging target prospects and decision-makers.
Re-engage and convert existing or lapsed customers who could benefit from a renewed energy strategy or upcoming renewal review.

You’ll receive comprehensive in-house training and mentorship from senior sales and energy consultants, giving you all the tools to progress into an Energy Consultant or Account Manager role within 6–12 months – with an OTE of £40,000–£70,000+.

Key Responsibilities

  • Outbound Prospecting: Proactively identify and engage new businesses across key sectors (education, SME, commercial, and public sector).
  • Lead Re-engagement: Contact previous clients, expired accounts, and historical enquiries from our CRM to assess renewal opportunities or introduce new services.
  • Pipeline Generation: Book qualified appointments for Energy Consultants by understanding client needs, energy usage, and renewal timelines.
  • Account Revival: Reconnect with organisations that once engaged with TNEH but didn’t proceed — rekindling interest through insight, new offerings, or better timing.
  • CRM Management: Maintain detailed and accurate notes of outreach activity, lead status, and conversion outcomes.
  • Campaign Follow-Up: Partner with marketing to follow up on warm leads generated through digital campaigns, webinars, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Target Achievement: Consistently meet or exceed monthly KPIs for calls, meetings, and conversions.
  • Brand Representation: Represent TNEH with professionalism, energy, and credibility – demonstrating our values of transparency, innovation, and customer focus.
  • Compliance & Quality: Adhere to Ofgem, ADR and internal compliance standards in all client interactions.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – confident engaging senior decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven with the resilience to thrive in an outbound role.
  • Commercial curiosity – understanding what drives business energy decisions.
  • Excellent organisation and time management.
  • Desire to progress within a fast-growth energy and sustainability business.
  • Experience in outbound telesales, lead generation, or business development.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and managing re-engagement pipelines.
  • Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, or carbon reduction.

Results Expected

  • Consistent delivery of qualified meetings and appointments for Energy Consultants.
  • Clear contribution to new business and re-engagement revenue targets.
  • Positive client feedback and measurable improvement in conversion rates from lapsed accounts.
  • Demonstrable personal progression through the Sales Academy pathway.
